Seasonality

This is the determinant of how the tent handles several weather conditions. Tents are generally classified as either 3-Season, 3+Season or 4-Season. 3 season tents are the most common in use among backpackers. They are able to handle mild weather conditions. They will normally come with large breathable mesh windows and are best suited for use in late spring to early fall. 3+ Season tents are an improvement over the 3 season versions and can cope with more severe weather conditions. The 4 season tents are also known as all-weather tents and as the name signifies they are good at handling all types of weather.  They are made from heavy-duty fabric and have fewer mesh panels. Most of this type of tents also come with rain-flies to help keep out snow and wind.

Weight

The weight of a camping tent is another thing to help when trying to figure out how to choose the best tent for your camping adventure. Lightweight tents offer easy transportation without issues. They can be carried over long distances without contributing to the tiredness and fatigue from trekking with heavy weight. One quality type of lightweight tent is the 4.4pound BFULL Camping Tent. Heavyweight tents often have poles made of fiberglass, they are sturdy and may help to reduce the effect of winds. Aluminum poles in lightweight tents are more expensive, unlike the fiberglass ones.

Setup and packing

This is a determinant of how easy it will be to set up the tent. Some tents could be so hard to set up that it may ruin the whole experience. Having color-coded hug clips along with the necessary stakes and guy lines will help in setting up the tent easily as well as packing it down.

Footprint & Center height

The footprint denotes the floor area while the center height will show how tall the tent is. The footprint will also determine how many people can properly fit in the tent. The Mountainsmith Morrison tent has a 92 x 56-inch floor area and a 46inches tall center height, enough to fit in two persons with little more room for gears and backpack. Remember though that most tents would not actually fit the number of persons they were advertised to be able to contain. 4 person tents would fit in four people but it’d be very tight and will not seem comfy.  Same as with other tent sizes. You’d be fine to divide room capacity by 2 or at least subtract 2 from the capacity it is advertised to contain.

Extra added features

Some tents come with added features like rain-flies, gear lofts, wall pockets, etc. These features at times may be the factor that will separate them from the rest of the pack. Having extra features means added comfort and convenience on most occasions.

These factors above should be properly sought after when shopping for a tent. If you don’t know how to choose the best tent, a straightforward check of these features in your tent of interest may help you to choose the tent that will perfectly work for you. read more
